Here's what we've been up to this summer:
- Every Tuesday some ladies from school get together at our local coffee shop and knit. Whoever can make it each week shows up, and if you're on vacation, then we talk about you. Just kidding! Here's a picture of a pair of socks that I knit this summer, my first pair in fact. I tried once before and I wasn't a fan of the tiny needles, but these weren't too bad.
- I also have been taking classes once a month to learn some new apps for my iPad. I got one for school this year, and I am excited to see how I can put it to use with students, rather than fun games, Facebook and knitting patterns. :)
- Chad has played golf as usual, sometimes it's his stress relief, and sometimes not.
- Connor has been going to daycare a couple of days a week to play with his friends and let me get some projects done around the house.
- Chad and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. We went out for dinner at our favorite restaurant and relaxed on the deck that night, and the following weekend we went to the cities without Connor to get away.
- Connor got hand, foot and mouth disease. Yes, I know it sounds like a cow or horse thing. He had two days of fever, quit eating and then erupted in red "dots." Nothing the doctor can give for a virus, and thankfully the dots didn't bother him too much. I was thankful he didn't get any in his mouth, I've heard those are the worst.
- At the end of July we went to Duluth. Connor is really into trains, and we had heard that Thomas the Train was coming to town, so we went to see him, and ride the train. The lake and Canal Park and the big ships were pretty awesome too. Connor was also quite impressed that we got to drive through tunnels. A stay at the waterpark, and some spoiling via his Nana, Papa, and Uncle Phil wasn't too shabby either. That will have to be an annual trip.
- We've been enjoying lots of park time, and a trip to the beach here and there. We will make the most of the rest of summer. Tomorrow we are going to the county fair with some friends, and Chad and I are headed to the Twins game on Saturday night. Hoping for a win! Then two more weeks of freedom, and back to the grind for me. I am so thankful for my summers and the time I can spend with my family.
